Photos: The MadameNoire Anniversary Brunch Was The Place To Be!
This month MadameNoire turns four and we figured there was no better way to celebrate our birthday than with the women who are responsible for our success, our readers. On June 8 in Harlem, the editors of MadameNoire and 75 of our fans and readers got together at Black River Studios in Harlem to eat good food, have great conversation, and above all else, Myx and Mingle!
Speaking of Myx, the sparkling Moscato was just one of the generous sponsors who made our four-year anniversary celebration possible. Ladies sipped on Monami Entertainment CEO Mona Scott-Young’s refreshing wine all afternoon and it was hard to choose a favorite between the original flavor, peach, and coconut!
Beautiful Textures was also kind enough to send all of our fabulous attendees home with their Texture Manageability System (TMS) which allows kinky, curly, and wavy ladies to be naturally straight — that means a fresh blowout without any chemicals or harsh heat. And who better to show off the wonders of TMS than our favorite gray-haired beauty Ty Alexander, aka, Gorgeous In Grey?
After we made sure all the ladies were looking and feeling good, we also checked to see that they were taking care of themselves — particularly their sexual health. That’s why we gave each woman one of OraQuick’s take-home HIV tests and had an open forum on “The Conversation,” i.e. how you bring up testing and protection with a new partner. In our very candid discussion, we found out just how no nonsense most us ladies are when it comes to wrapping it up, but we also opened some guests eyes to the need for continuous testing throughout the length of one’s courting and monogamous dating relationships, and, yes, even marriage.

We don’t want to make you too jealous — okay yes we do — but we enjoyed a menu of amazing bites provided by our favorite men from The Meditating Chef & Co. Sunday afternoon. Just to give you a taste, here are some of the dishes we nibbled on: colossal shrimp cocktail with green goddess dressing, vegetable paella, and fire-grilled spiced chicken with mojito chimichurri served with Baby potatoes with Romesco. Yum!
Shout out to our amazing food team, Chef Jay, The Imperial jaff, and Colbert, The Alchemist, of The Meditating Chef & Co. and Theresa Ukpo of The Batter End Bake Shop who made the delicious, strawberry, vanilla, and cookies n’ cream cupcakes.
And last but not least, special shout out to all of the gorgeous readers who came out and celebrated with us Sunday afternoon. We can’t wait to do it all over again!
