Pamela D. Hogan, the executive director and owner of Georgia Institute of Cosmetology and Esthetics, says she learned several lessons from being fired. A veteran hair stylist, she has styled numerous stars including Lynn Whitfield, Raven Symone, Kelly Price and Angela Bassett.

” If you are in the career you sign up for, then perfect. But if you are in customer service and that is not what you want to do, then own it or get out,” she says. “Being late is not a good thing–sure sign for wanting to be fired. Not being a team player; if you are not willing to participate with others and their ideas you are not a team player. Not being productive. No company wants a turtle; you are hired to do a job so do it!”
