It looks like Lupita Nyong’o is gearing up for her next major role. It was announced earlier today that the Academy Award-winning actress has been cast in the newest “Star Wars” installation. The big news was tweeted out from the official Star Wars Twitter account. Joining Lupita, will be “Game of Thrones” actress Gwendoline Christie. According to, actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow will also be joining the original cast for the latest installment of the saga.

“I could not be more excited about Lupita and Gwendoline joining the cast of Episode VII,” says Lucas film president Kathleen Kennedy. “It’s thrilling to see this extraordinarily talented ensemble taking shape.”

Lupita took to Instagram and Twitter to share the great news with fans.

“I can finally say it out loud and proud: I’m going to a galaxy far far away!” she wrote.

It’s currently unclear what kind of role Lupita will be playing. “Star Wars: Episode VII” will be directed by J.J. Abrams. The film is set to hit theaters December 18, 2015.
