Robin Thicke Publicly Apologizes To Paula Patton With Performance Of “Get Her Back” At Billboard Awards

- By

All the success Robin Thicke gained last year thanks to his mega-hit song, “Blurred Lines,” came at a cost: his marriage to Paula Patton. And while he had a lot to celebrate tonight, including winning “Top R&B Song” at the Billboard Music Awards, only one thing seemed to be on his mind, and that was his estranged wife.

When he picked up the award, Thicke took to the stage to thank her for her support, saying “Most importantly, I’d like to thank my wife for her love and support and for putting up with me all these years.”

But if that wasn’t enough, he performed a new song for her in front of the world called “Get Her Back.” During the performance, he basically pulled a lot of shoulda, coulda and wouldas out about what he should have done and what he did that he felt made her distant. It was a pretty apology, telling her that he never should have raised his voice at her, and he should have spent more time kissing and holding her. In the end, he let it be known that “I’ll wait for forever for you to love me again.”

The song is actually quite smooth, so I’ll give Thicke credit for that. But something about this public apology and “get her back” tour he’s been on and been so public about is starting to get a little weird, as though a lot of it is just for attention. And no, Ms. Patton isn’t exempt from such thoughts from me either. I do believe they are going through something major, but it’s time to take the steps to rectify that situation behind-the-scenes and keep it that way.

But anywho, check out his heartfelt public gesture and share your thoughts.
