No More Shopping For Push-Up Bras? Check Out The “Internal Bra”

May 10, 2014  |

Shopping at Victoria’s Secret for lace push-up bras may become a thing of the past! A new breast lift procedure called the “internal bra” surgically implants a device to keep your twins perked up, ABC reports.

Formally, it has been dubbed the Orbix Breast Support System. Unlike traditional boob jobs, the internal bra procedure inserts a silicone bra-shaped sling under the breasts which is anchored by silicone threads and titanium screws embedded onto the upper rib cage. Ouch!

“Think of it as a hammock that sits underneath your breast to keep it supported, or like the bottom part of an underwire bra,” said Yossi Mazel, the COO of Orbix Medical, an Israel-based medical device company. The procedure will set you back about $10,100 — approximately $1,700 more than your typical breast augmentation surgery.

The internal bra also promises 10 years of guaranteed perkiness while boob jobs only assures five, according to Elle.

So far, only three patients have undergone the Orbix Breast Support System procedure at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital in London, performed by Professor Jian Farhadi. Reps for the UK hospital clarified for Elle that the internal bra is only suggested for women with large breasts who want support, not for ladies with small boobs who desire cleavage.

The new procedure is cleared for practice in some European countries. Mazel says the internal bra will undergo review by the FDA for use in the U.S. later this year.

“At the end of a long day, lots of women have a similar routine once they get back to their own homes: slipping on sweatpants, taking off their bras. Imagine if you could never do the latter,” Elle wondered.

Is the Orbix Breast Support System —  erm — “uplifting” news for you or will you stick to your traditional, external brassieres?
