Let’s be real. There are challenges that your non-Black co-workers just can’t understand. As a member of a Black association, you will meet people who will can empathize with the challenges of working while Black. When you complain that your White co-worker always works her neck and calls you “homegirl” at the office, folks at the association will have similar stories. Some associations even offer workshops and panels to help address the concerns of being African American in the workplace.
