Over the weekend we told you Perri “Pebbles” Reid filed a $40 million lawsuit against Viacom over TLC biopic, “Crazy, Sexy, Cool,” which aired last October. As you probably recall, the former music industry executive was outraged over her portrayal in the film and argued that many parts of the movie were fabricated.
“The movie contains many false and defamatory statements and scenes about me,” she said in an October statement. “Please know that I have never cheated or mislead anyone. I will defend my reputation, accomplishments, and character. My attorney is in the process of demanding a retraction of the false and defamatory statements and scenes about me from VH1.”
While it was said that she had plans to sue the group and Viacom, six months later, we’re only hearing about a lawsuit against Viacom. Group member Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas says it’s because she has no reason to sue TLC.
“Pebbles couldn’t sue us because we didn’t lie,” Chilli recently told Bossip. “When people talk about lawsuits and then it kind of dies out, you’re like oh, okay. Either they forget it or you settled or something, or they’re okay with people believing what they say is not true, or they had no case. And in that case, she ain’t had no case.”
The mom and former reality star also discussed what she would’ve done differently if she were presented with the chance to do it all over.
“We probably would’ve had those same contracts in the beginning, but we would have renegotiated sooner and got different lawyers. Then that way, it wouldn’t have taken us to get to the third album before you really start seeing profit and that kind of stuff, you know.”
