The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency

The Jill Scott-led HBO comedy, based on the books by Alexander McCall Smith, was a charming show about Mma Ramotswe, her detective agency, and the foibles of the folks in her life. It gave a positive look at modern Botswana and was entertaining, but HBO decided not to move forward with a second season due to low ratings after all seven episodes aired in 2009.
