For some time now, we’ve been aware that things are over between Lil’ Mo and soon-to-be ex-husband, Phillip Bryant. But what we didn’t know is why the couple finally decided to split. The “R&B Divas: LA” star recently stopped by Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club and finally spilled the beans regarding their impending divorce and the events that led up to it.
“When we film and by time y’all get the footage, it be like months later. So he [Phillip] texted me in December and was like, ‘Yeah, by January everything will be done.’ He was supposed to serve me some paperwork,” Mo explained.
However, there was a bit of confusion after she relocated, so she wound up filing for divorce in Baltimore at a later date.
“I just want my last name back. So as of right now, I’m done with it,” she continued. “I already did my part. I done moved on.”
Contrary to popular belief, Mo says she spent a decent amount of time alone before moving on to a new man.
“I went through my dry cactus season. Everyone was like, ‘Oh, you just up and got you a new dude.’ No… ooh, I was dry. It was by choice. I guess it was like a secret celibacy.”
“I was out in LA with me and my son. I wasn’t gonna do nothing crazy in front of him. I was just filming and staying saved.”
She also confessed to getting an abortion towards the end of her relationship with Phillip.
“On May 5th I had to get an abortion. I’m like, ‘Are you kidding me?’ He kept trying to get me pregnant and do some stuff so I could be [locked in].”
As for being ready to marry new boyfriend, Karl Dargen, Mo says she’s still not accepting just being someone’s girlfriend.
“I can’t just do that. We can’t just go together. I don’t have any kids out-of-wedlock and I’m not gonna just be humping. We can’t just go together.”
Naturally, inquiring minds would like to know what went wrong in her marriage to Phillip. While Mo does admit to cheating on her estranged husband, she argues that it was only in retaliation because he cheated first.
“I already knew what is was. It was over.”
As for how she found how Phillip was cheating, the singer-turned-reality says she discovered his infidelity in the middle of one of their threesomes.
“I kind of knew. You can tell when somebody is rocking with somebody. You can feel the chemistry. One thing I think God gives women is intuition,” Mo began. “So one time we were having a threesome and I was like, ‘Yo, I think he really rock with this joint.'”
“You know, when you get new smash, you know, you hunch up. And I said, ‘You know what?’ She ain’t move a certain way. When you get new smash, you be like ‘ahhh.’ It feel a certain type of way. When you don’t move, it means it’s convenient. You had it before. And that’s when I knew. I said, ‘You know what? I’m out of here.'”
Yep, we’re pretty speechless too.
