Not sure what’s going on with Columbus Short these days, but things are getting scary.
According to TMZ, Columbus Short’s wife has filed a restraining order against him and filed for divorce from him this week after he allegedly pulled a knife on her.
TMZ obtained the restraining order, which reportedly says that Short and his wife Tuere (also known as Tanee McCall-Short) had a fight on April 7 at their home in LA. She claims that while drunk, wine bottle in hand, Short came into the room she was in and acted as though he was going to hit her with the bottle before pouring the contents of it on her.
Tuere says that after that, as things got really tense between them in the house, Columbus went into the kitchen for a knife, came back to her room and started choking her. Tuere claims that Columbus said they were going to play a game called “Truth or Truth,” and that if she lied about anything he asked her, he was going to stab her in the leg with the knife. Columbus then began naming men he thought she was cheating on him with, and when she denied it, she claims he put the knife to her throat and threatened to kill her and then himself. She was able to get away from him, and when she tried to leave the home, he allegedly slashed one of her tires.
As part of the restraining order put in place, Columbus is required to leave the couple’s home. Police were reportedly there today to make sure the exit went smoothly and peacefully.
Tuere went ahead and filed for divorce on Tuesday, citing irreconcilable differences, and she is seeking sole custody of their 2-year-old daughter. It’s unclear if the child was in the home and witnessed such an incident.
Columbus Short’s relationship with his wife has been very tumultuous lately.
We told you recently that he reportedly knocked a man out at a party after the man made a comment about Tuere: “You might be richer than me but I get my girls to buy me everything I want including your wife.”
And in February, Columbus was charged with criminal domestic violence and child abuse for attacking Tuere while his daughter and a son from a previous relationship were present in the home. He pled not guilty to that, but was arrested a few weeks after that incident for reportedly pushing Tuere during another argument.
The Shorts were going to divorce last year, as Tuere filed in September, and at the time she was seeking sole custody of their daughter. She changed her mind earlier this year. They have been married since 2005.
