Spring Reset: Tips To Get Your Mojo Back

As a PR Expert, coach, and all things branding, the one consistent piece of advice I dole out is that change does not happen overnight. Pressing reset happens over a period of 30, 60, even 90 days. Actually, it takes 30 days of consistent behavior to develop a new habit.

Ready to create a RESET plan? What does your RESET look like? Is it making more money, having peace of mind, unconditional love, or perhaps, a few moments of quiet time? You decide and press the switch.

Here are some must-have tips to help you press RESET and spring forward to success and personal development:

Meditation. Russell Simmons swears by it and so do I. The art of being still, setting the tone of the day and declaring your intention can work magic for your personal brand.

Library Card. I love to read and spend tons of hours poring over books, magazines, resource materials and all for free at the library.  My favorite book du jour is The Reader, an old favorite from Oprah’s Book Club. The book is simply an empowerment tool to stay in gratitude and say “thank you” for all that is about to happen in your life.  Many of us are in disbelief that life can get better and therefore, block our blessings.

Support Circle. Yes. social media is important. However, Twitter and Instagram can’t give you enough solid feedback, love and guidance to push the reset button. Surround yourself with folks you love, want to emulate and aspire to be. Leave all the vampires at bay.

Music. A universal language of love, which can transform any mood to a place of peace, empowerment and RESET. Select your beats, groove and stay inspired.

Yoga.  The goal of yoga is to stay in practice for 90 minutes, commit to yourself, and listen to your body. When you take the time to listen to your body, a change/shift happens which results in a positive posture alignment, coupled with confidence.

Get Uncomfortable. Perhaps you’ve been doing the same thing over and over, which has provided the same result, but you know you can do more. Make a vow to challenge yourself, write a cogent plan for your RESET and, most importantly, do something, which adds dimensions to your personhood.

Sleep.  Commit to renewing and rejuvenating all the cells in your body with a good nights sleep. Creativity happens when you are well rested and healthy.

RESET Inspiration: I appreciate the story of Madam CJ Walker, a woman, who was determined to transform her life from a farm laborer to a self-made entrepreneur. Madam CJ Walker pressed reset several times from moving to a bigger city for opportunities; going to school to learn the beauty trade; and, changing her name from Sarah Breedlove to Madam CJ Walker because she wanted her brand to exude power and respect. Madam CJ Walker believed that it is not how you start, it’s having the courage to never give up, not being afraid to dream big, and, perfecting your plan to win. Happy RESET!
