Monday’s Madame: Sakarra Fite

Age: 22

Location: New Jersey

Why She Inspires Us: Raised in New Jersey, Sakarra Fite  became an exceptional student despite being raised by a single mother with four other siblings. She was accepted to Farleigh Dickinson University (FDU) during her first admission interview. Although her family couldn’t afford to send her to college, Fite was awarded several scholarships to fund her undergraduate education.

While in college, Fite became the press and publicity chair of the FDU NAACP charter chapter, president of the Association of Black Collegians and a senior orientation leader. During Fite’s senior year of college, she became pregnant. On the verge of motherhood, Fite became the first person in her family to graduate college. After giving birth to her son in October 2013, Fite was unemployed and on welfare. Using the skills she learned as a Communications major, she became a freelance publicist. She created her own Public Relations firm and brand: Ms. Get Right Public Relations. Fite built a solid clientele based on young entrepreneurs who have businesses in urban areas and has learned to equip herself with tools used by the wealthy, for her life to be priceless. Claiming her education and faith as her most valued possessions, Fite plans to publish a book series an extension of her blog in the near future.
