April 2, 2014  |

Tiffani Bell – Founder, PencilYou.In and Code for America Fellow

What was your first job out of college?
Bell: My first job out of college was working at a government contractor writing purchasing and procurement software as a Ruby on Rails developer.

What lesson or skill did you learn at that job that still impacts how you work today?
Bell: I learned how important it is to meet people where they are when trying to get them to understand the value of software. I also learned how government works (particularly, federal government) and I still use a ton of that knowledge today as a Code for America Fellow working in Atlanta.
