“It Makes Me Look Like A Damn A**hole”: Apollo Nida Continues To Blast RHOA And Bravo For Bad Editing
We told you yesterday that Apollo Nida responded to criticism of him and his desert-dry birthday speech for wife Phaedra Parks on Twitter by letting people know that his speech was edited down to make him look bad: “It was really good but they edited it & that something I can’t control” I know all I heard from what was supposed to be a beautiful moment was “let’s move forward,” and other sites claim he said, “Thank you for having my children and goodnight.”
Well, in an interview with Jamie Foster Brown of Sister 2 Sister, he elaborated on his issues with the editing and said that his speech to Phaedra for her birthday was actually quite moving. However, Nida says that Bravo’s attempts to make him look like an “a**hole” pushed them to cut down most of what he had to say.
“My speech, it was whole-hearted. I really do admire my wife.”
He told Brown that out of the many things he said in honor of Phaedra, it included that she is “the most magnificent mother that a child could have” and that he’s “really blessed that she is in [his] life.”
“When you’re looking at the edited version, it’s totally different than what the real thing is. Man, do you know I gave her a long speech? I gave her a 15 minute speech. That’s what the TV show does. It makes me look like a damn a**hole.”
I guess whoever is behind the editing is doing a great job, because that man is portrayed as a fella with no redeeming and lovable qualities. But that’s what happens when folks get on reality TV. Even NeNe Leakes recently said in an interview with Essence that she felt Bravo was making her look the fool this season:
“I feel like these networks and production companies—I’m just keeping it real—I just feel like they build you up to tear you down. I feel like they’ve done whatever they could do to try to not show me in the best light. There are so many things that happen on the show and they… I don’t even want to talk about editing, because I feel like so many people cry wolf on editing. I’m just saying that they’ve done whatever they could to try and diminish anything that I’ve done and I’m okay with it because I know about reality TV. Every season there has to be a villain, there has to be somebody that straddles the fence, and there has to be a little s**t stirrer. All of those things make the show. They decide who’s going to be the villain this season or who’s going to be this person or that person. We don’t have any control over that.”
With all that said, what do you make of their complaints?
