Members Of Mase’s Congregation Say He’s A Hypocrite Who Is Leading A Double Life
If you’re confused about how Ma$e is leading the ballerific lifestyle of a rapper Monday through Saturday and stepping up in the pulpit as Pastor Mason Betha on Sundays, you’re not alone. According to TMZ, a few members of the El Lyon International Church are speaking out against the rapper-turned-reverend-turned-rapper-again.
Members say that they believe he is leading a double life, equally splitting his time between the church and the studio, where they he hangs out with “hardcore rappers.” They also claim his sermons as plagued with hypocrisy, as the very things he speaks out against on Sundays, he raps about in songs. The straw that broke the camel’s back, however, is said to be that the former Bad Boy rapper has built his entire ministry around his marriage, but turned around and “secretly” filed for divorce from his wife, Twyla Betha earlier this year. Though he later withdrew his divorce petition, congregants say that he never addressed his shortcomings—even after the news was made public.
Ironically, the Ma$e was also recently featured on a track titled “Tricky Situation,” which is about a man who is sleeping with another man’s fiancée. Some members say that things have gotten so bad that there’s talk about congregants refusing to fund the church.
Do you think Ma$e’s church family has the right to be upset that he didn’t publicly address his divorce filing?
