Yesterday we told you that Columbus Short was reportedly involved in a pretty serious bar fight that left his contender unconscious and with a broken nose. It now appears that the “Scandal” actor is in big trouble over the incident. According to TMZ, a warrant has been issued for the 33-year-old father’s arrest.
As you may recall, the alleged incident occurred at an engagement party in Los Angeles after the actor’s unnamed victim made some inappropriate remarks about Short’s wife, Tanee McCall-Short. Eyewitnesses say that the comment set off the choreographer-turned-actor and he proceeded to sucker punch his alleged victim. The man was later transported to a nearby hospital.
The warrant for Short’s arrest was issued by a judge today on one count of felony aggravated battery. The charge carries a maximum sentence of four years in prison. Bond has been set at $50,000. Reps for the actor have yet to comment on the warrant, but it turns out that Short has acquired quite the rap sheet over the past few years. In addition to the March 2010 incident where he knocked out a man’s teeth, TMZ is reporting that Short was also recently arrested for physically attacking his wife.
The incident occurred back in February at the couple’s Woodland Hills home. Police say they responded to a 911 call around 2 a.m. and that Short attacked Tanee during an argument. To make matters worse, his 2-year-old and 10-year-old children were present during the altercation and witnessed the entire thing. He was charged with spousal battery and child abuse due to the emotional trauma the kids suffered by watching the scuffle. The actor pled not guilty to the charges on Tuesday.
An additional incident occurred between Short and his wife two weeks later. According to the police report, they got into an argument and he allegedly pushed her. Similar to the previous one, this incident also ended with the “Scandal” heart throb being carried off in a police patrol car.
