Caught Up In The Law: Anita Baker Wanted By Detroit Police
Even the legends aren’t above the law y’all. According to Click On Detroit, and a host of other sources, an arrest warrant has been issued for singer Anita Baker.
What could sweet, little old Anita have done? Well, the issue is between Baker and Ray Smith Painting. The company claims that after painting Baker’s Grosse Pointe home, she owes them $15,000 and they have yet to receive payment.
Daniel Gerow, the attorney for the painting company said, “We certainly would have liked to resolve it before now. We just want to try to get my client his money.”
Gerow says not only did Baker not pay, she failed to show up in court to justify her actions, which is why the charges have been issued.
Surprisingly, this isn’t the first time Baker has been in legal trouble. In 2010, a judge threatened to throw her in jail for allegedly failing to sign documents during her divorce dispute. She avoided jail time by reaching an agreement at the last minute.
Auntie Nita, pick up the phone and handle this matter before it gets any uglier than it is now.
