“They’re Gon’ Turn It To Another Level” Deitrick Haddon Talks “Preachers Of LA” Season 2

March 19, 2014  |

While millions of folks watched “Preachers of LA” religiously there were many more who took issue with the show, claiming they didn’t want to see preachers behaving so messily. But where there’s drama there are viewers and so the Oxygen show is gearing up for a second season.

The preachers Clarence McClendon, Jay Haizlip, Noel Jones, Ron Gibson and Wayne Chaney will return to the show, picking up right where their lives left off with Deitrick Haddon.

Haddon, who serves as one of the executive producers of the show spoke to theJasmineBRAND.com about the reason the show is returning even after all of the controversy and what made Haddon come up with this idea in the first place.

Check out excerpts from their red carpet interview and then watch the video below.

What triggered the idea initially and what we can expect in the second season?

“Preachers of LA” is big you know–the idea came to me when I was in a rough place and I was like, ‘People will never know the truth about what I’ve gone through’. And the thing, it hit me, ‘You need to do a reality show’. And just be real about it…It was hard to find other preachers that were willing to be that transparent, but we found ‘em. Season 2–their gon’ turn it up to another level. We’re already shooting scenes that are gonna be crazy.

Why the show will return despite criticism?

We tried to get away from from it man,  because we had so much negative talk about it across the country. But the people demanded that we come back because there’s a crowd. There’s millions of people that want to know the flip side of ministry. What it really means to be a human being, with such a high calling. A lot of times when you’re being a human being, you’re gonna fall short. And uh, that’s what the show’s all about, being transparent.

Check out Deitrick as he talks about his concerns for the new cast on the spinoff show and whether or not the franchise will expand to other cities in the video below.
