Kanye West Sentenced To 2 Years Probation In Battered Paparazzo Case
Kanye West was served with a two-year probation sentence in relation to an altercation that he was involved in back in 2013 involving photographer Daniel Ramos, TMZ reports.
Though the “Bound 2” rapper initially entered a not guilty plea to misdemeanor battery and grand theft charges, he later pleaded no contest to the battery charge and the grand theft charge was dropped. In exchange for his plea and in addition to his two-year probation sentence, Kanye is required to fulfill 250 hours of community service and 30 days of anger management.
If you recall, the incident involving Kanye and Daniel occurred last July at LAX airport where Kanye was being photographed by the paparazzi. He eventually addressed Daniel:
“What you’re trying to do is get me in trouble, so I step out and have to pay you like $250,000,” he said before running towards Daniel and allegedly grabbing his camera.
Kanye will also be required to replace the photography equipment that was damaged in the scuffle and any medical bills that Daniel incurred in relation to the incident. Daniel, however, probably isn’t too pleased with the outcome of the case. According to reports, he told the courts that he felt Kanye should have been sent to jail and that the emotional trauma that the Chicago rapper caused him still lingers. He also insisted that Kanye used the assault to promote his latest album, “Yeezus.”
