Eighty Pounds Lighter, Jennifer Hudson Exits As Weight Watchers Spokesperson
Jennifer Hudson dropped 80 pounds with Weight Watchers and became one of their most popular celebrity spokespeople. Now the singer/Oscar-winning actress is dropping the organization.
According to People magazine, after four years the two have parted ways.
“I have chosen to step away from my role as ambassador and I am excited for the year to come, with many new projects and lots of new music,” Hudson told People, adding: “My experience with Weight Watchers has truly been life changing. I am grateful for what I have learned throughout the process and will always take it with me.”
When she joined the program in 2010, she said it was to get rid of the baby weight she had gained during pregnancy. “I didn’t realize it was me. I was like, ‘Who? … Oh, my God, this is me.’ And now when I look back, wow, look at the difference from then to now,” she said.
By early 2011, Hudson had gone from size 16 to a size 6 and by the summer of that same year, it was that reported she had dropped to a size zero, reports The Huffington Post. Hudson announced after the 80-pound loss she was done slimming down.
“After four years of a successful and rewarding partnership, Weight Watchers and Jennifer Hudson are ending our official partnership, though we’re confident Jennifer will remain a Lifetime Member,” a Weight Watchers rep told Us Weekly in a statement.
“Jennifer’s healthy lifestyle and successful weight loss has inspired so many; from her friends and family to our members and staff, as well as people around the world; and we know that inspiration lives on,” the statement continued. “We will continue to support Jennifer in maintaining her healthy lifestyle and wish her the very best in her personal and professional life.”
Jessica Simpson, who also announced she’s reached her goal weight, remains a Weight Watchers spokesperson.
