Last week we reported on the brutal murders of Britney Cosby and Crystal Jackson of Texas. The bodies of the lesbian couple were discovered near a convenience store dumpster. As police officers scrambled for answers surrounding the murders they encountered a shocking suspect—Britney’s father, James Larry Cosby.
Cosby became a person of interest in the crime after investigators questioned him following a candlelight vigil in his daughter’s honor. From that interview, their suspicious grew.
“Anytime you have a crime like this you want to talk to the family, co-workers, friends to gain any information you can and, during that interview, pretty much it became an investigation,” Galveston County Sheriff Henry Trochesset told KHOU.
Sheriff Trochesset adds that when he arrived to Cosby’s residence, he noticed a few things, which prompted him to request a search warrant.
“When we went to the residence to talk to him, some of the things we saw there, it increased and went further. We got a search warrant for the residence and our crime scene investigators were there last night, and after the event at the park, we drove him down to talk to us at the Sheriff’s Office.”
The evidence recovered by investigators suggested that both women may have been murdered in Cosby’s Houston home prior to their bodies being dumped in Bolivar.
“The first crime scene we determined was where they were found by the dumpsters. This is another crime scene where blood and other evidence from the crime that occurred was at his residence,” Trochesset said. “That might be the area where they may have been murdered.”
Detectives also say that they found Cosby’s thumbprint near the crime scene where the bodies were discovered. Cosby is currently being held at the Galveston County Jail on $500,000 bond. He has been charged with two counts of tampering with evidence and is not cooperating with police.
