Because You Loved It So Much: “Jumping The Broom” Sequel Is Happening
According to Shadow and Act, you’re going to get to jump the broom one more time, because the folks behind the original hit comedy have decided to try and test their luck again with a sequel.
As the plot went for the first film, Paula Patton and Laz Alonso played a couple from different sides of the tracks, trying to bring their families together for their lavish wedding at Martha’s Vineyard. According to S&A, the second time around, the setting will be New York City, and as they put it, there will be “two very different families” trying to get their families together for a weekend wedding.
My boss and I wondered if Meagan Good and Gary Dourdan’s characters would be the ones heading to the altar, but seeing as two different families will be the focus…guess not.
The sequel will be executed through Our Stories Films and TJ Jakes Productions, with production work by Tracey Edmonds, TD Jakes and DeVon Franklin for Sony Pictures. Also, the story will be written by Elizabeth Hunter, who wrote the original film’s screenplay.
S&A isn’t sure what all this means for the cast, but it seems that their might be a new slew of stars in this sequel (unless that just means “very different” as in, once again, families from two separate backgrounds). Not sure how we feel about all this, but what about you? Are you excited for a sequel to Jumping The Broom?
