Technology Leaders Of Color Gather At SXSW Interactive For Movement 50

March 7, 2014  |

As SXSW Interactive gears up, tech experts of color are preparing to discuss issues of importance to the digital arena and to the black community with Movement 50, a program platform that spans across three days. Previously called Blacks in Technology @ SXSW, Movement 50 (MVMT50) has partnered with companies including Hello Beautiful, EA Games, The Grio, EbonyMag.com, and others to provide even more events, panels and discussions for 2014.

Media mogul and all around businessman Nick Cannon and actress Reagan Gomez-Preston will be at the Hilton Garden Inn this weekend conducting one-on-ones. And MadameNoire’s own Moguldom Media will be represented at a panel discussion on Sunday — “When #BlackTwitter Attacks” — that will “discuss the dark side of Black Twitter and the social responsibility of its members.” Panelists include managing editor Anslem Rocque, consultant David Dennis, both from Moguldom; Bossip’s Janee Bolden; and Ebony.com consultant Jamilah Lemieux.

Among the many other things on tap:

Business Prototyping Bootcamp — Tech expert Jose Caballer with host this workshop focused on creating an effective business plan.

Invest. Up — A panel discussion about the ways that funding minority-owned and women-owned hi-tech startups and high-growth companies can help to close the wealth gap in America, presented by Dr. Rodney S. Sampson, MBA, co-founder of opportunity.UP | HUB | VENTURES; executive in charge of Diversity and Inclusion at One Three Media; and author of Kingonomics: Twelve Innovative Currencies for Transforming Your Business & Life, Inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
