Paris Fashion Week Gone Wrong! Ajak Deng Claims She Was Kicked Out Of Balmain Show Because She’s Black

Racism in the modeling world is no new concept. We’ve talked about this issue multiple times on StyleBlazer, and the push for more diversity on the runways made by Bethann Hardison seemed like a sign for better days. But alas, there are still ever-present examples of discrimination.

Sudanese model, Ajak Deng took to Twitter last Thursday to voice her upset after allegedly being excused from the Balmain Fall 2014 show. While Olivier Rousteing is the bi-racial creative director for the French brand, he is not the casting director and wasn’t the direct target of any of the tweets.

Apparently, she was cut from the show at the last minute. But as The Fashion Spot notes there’s no confirmation that she was scheduled to be in the show, that she was kicked out because of race, and what exactly upset her.

The show went on, she was not in it.
