Won’t He Do It? Lupita Nyong’o Wins Best Supporting Actress Oscar For “12 Years A Slave”

March 3, 2014  |

Was anybody else extremely nervous during the presentation of the Best Supporting Actress Award? My heart was literally thumping, but sitting through this extremely long Academy Awards show is now absolutely worth it after watching Lupita Nyong’o take home the award for her work as Patsey in 12 Years a Slave.

When accepting her award, she thanked a wide range of people, including family, friends, the cast of 12 Years a Slave, Steve McQueen and more. But in a very moving moment, she thanked the life and spirit of the character she played, Patsey, and said, “It doesn’t escape me that so much joy in my life has come from so much pain in someone else’s.”

Love her, and what a wonderful way to ring in her 31st birthday(which was on Saturday), am I right?

Congratulations to Nyong’o, I’m pretty sure the whole world was rooting for her!
