As with any relationship, you should strive to be a resource. Too many people get networking wrong in the sense that they only reach out to their network of connections when they need something.
Reporters and bloggers are always looking for a great story; even if it isn’t yours. So if you see something happening in your industry or you know of a great person/entrepreneur that fits that outlet’s criteria, send the reporter a heads up. Even though you’re not doing it with an expectation of reciprocation, you could make it onto a short list of people they’ll reach out when a relevant opportunity opens up.
