Study the Media Outlets You Want to Be Covered In

This should seem like a no-brainer, but if you want to be featured in a media outlet, you should consume whatever it is that they produce. Study the format. Look for the recurring features that appear daily, weekly or monthly. Do you have a business or a story that would fit within one of those features? If not, look to the additional content in the publication or check the editorial calendar to get more information about the themes for that month (if it’s a magazine). Most media outlets have a steady formula that isn’t often updated, so you can learn a lot just by paying a little bit of attention.
