Big Boi Says He Doesn’t Mind Paying Child Support, But Estranged Wife Needs To Get A Job
Last fall we told you that after 11 years of marriage, the wife of Outkast rapper Antwan “Big Boi” Patton, Sherlita Patton, filed for divorce. Her reason for wanting out of the marriage has not been made public as of yet, but whatever the reason, it doesn’t appear that the split is going to be an easy task.
As previously reported, Sherlita has filed for sole custody of their youngest child (they have another who is 18 years old). But TMZ is reporting that he’s fighting Sherlita on her request for full custody, insisting that the child would best benefit from joint physical and legal custody.
Child support doesn’t seem like it will present a problem, as the 39-year-old says that he’s willing to shell out whatever the State of Georgia requires him to pay in child support. Alimony, however, appears to be a rather different story. In recently filed court documents, Big’s legal team points out that Sherlita is fairly young, in good health and well-educated. In other words, she’s perfectly capable of holding down a job like the rest of us and because of that, he’s not trying to cut those alimony checks.
We’re not sure what to say about their feud over alimony, but we do hope that they can come to some sort of agreement regarding the custody of their child.
