Madame After Dark: Sex & Your Time of the Month
“When a woman has her menstrual flow, she shall be in a state of impurity for seven days. Anyone who touches her shall be unclean until evening. Anything on which she lies or sits during her impurity shall be unclean. Anyone who touches her bed shall wash his garments, bathe in water, and be unclean until evening.”
We have come a long way from the days when religious law (that served a practical purpose in ancient times when disease was misunderstood and difficult to suppress), practically required isolation for menstruating women. Nonetheless, modern attitudes toward menstruation reflect little progress from our past. In my circle of friends, few are comfortable discussing their periods with among confidants, and even fewer admit to sexual activity during menstruation. However, everyone knows somebody that has sex during her time of the month (TOM).
So I’ve decided to explore what makes sex during the TOM so undesirable…and what you can do to make it great! Hop on board my imaginary tour boat as I guide you through the perils and pleasures of “sex on the Red Sea”.
