Tom Ford Knocks Of A $65 Jay Z Concert T-Shirt, Sells It For $6,500
Is there a bromance brewing? First Jay Z released the song “Tom Ford” named after the popular fashion designer. Now Ford has knocked off Jay Z’s style and put it on the runway at London Fashion Week.
Ford was inspired by Jay Z’s “Magna Carta Holy Grail” tour T-shirts that read “Tom Ford,” “61” with the word “Molly” x’ed out –in reference to his rhyme: “I don’t pop molly. I rock Tom Ford,” reports The Huffington Post. At London Fashion Week, which opened February 14th, Ford showed a black-and-white and an orange-and-white sequin dress down the runway that duplicated Jay-Z’s shirt. It is part of Ford’s Fall/Winter 2014 collection.
“I just took the knock off from online, and knocked it off,” Ford explained to The Associated Press following the show.
Jay Z’s original concert T-shirt was designed by the French clothing line called BBP (Black Boy Place) and costs $65. Ford’s version is a little steeper.
“My knockoff will sell for $6,500,” Ford said to Style.com.
We thought knockoffs were supposed to cost less! You know it’ll be $9.95 at H&M any day now.
