Erica Hubbard was the star of ABC Family’s Lincoln Heights for four years. The show, which was canceled last year, detailed the lives of an African American family who moved back to the father’s old neighborhood when he took a job as a police officer. Hubbard, who is now 27, played a teenager.

Now in her new role in the Queen Latifah produced comedy, Let’s Stay Together, Hubbard plays an adult and she’s glad about it. “Aw, you don’t understand how good it feels to finally play an adult,” Hubbard told BlackVoices.com.

The actress told Black Voices that she’s honored to be making history with BET in this feel-good comedy.

“I am really happy that I am on a project that people can tune in and they can laugh,” she explained. “They can smile watching us perform and being these characters. In this economy when you hear all of these stories of all of the disparity, you want to turn on and have some kind of laughter in your life. I do believe that laughter is like medicine for the soul.”
