Eight Shows to Watch for Fashion’s Sake
7) Spartacus: Gods of the Arena
I’ll agree, this one is a bit random, but just give it a chance. The Starz series has a bit of everything for all: bloody battles for the boys and the fashion of Grecian goddesses for the girls. Although many of these looks can’t necessarily be carried over into everyday life of this day and age, some of the fashion offers great inspiration to many of the present looks that pay homage to an era filled with treachery, corruption and deceit. During the few moments the characters are clothed and not drenched in blood, Lucretia and her inner circle can be found laying the blueprint for classic femininity. Ropes and sashes are signatures of the look adding depth and texture to looks that are otherwise floaty and flowy. Looks are also heavily layered and draped in fabrics such as chiffon and silk. Confused about color? These goddesses are often found in warm arcane reddish-browns, bronze, velvety rusts and glittering golds. Let’s not forget gladiator sandals that can be modernized and adjusted for this season with wedge styles and heels. Inspired yet? Many designers like Betsey Johnson put moderns twists on this trend taking it from the blood and sand to the red carpet.
