If you’re out here hustling in the streets trying to get discovered, your best bet might be to plop down in front of your web cam, clear your throat and press record. With a near cult-like following of social media sites like Facebook and YouTube, the digital space could very well lead to your break through.

Recently, Mashable compiled a list of rising artists whose homemade videos caught the attention of some people with power. Among them was Dondria, (pictured above), who’s rendition of Mary J Blige’s “Going Down” landed her a record deal with So So Def after Jermaine Dupri saw her video.

Also on the list is teen heartthrob Justin Bieber, singing Chris Brown’s “With You.” Even though his video features posters of Bart Simpson on one wall and Tupac on the other, his voice stole the show.

Do you think YouTube is a good way to make it big?

Check out the rest of the lucky bunch here.
