Steps To Take If You’ve Experienced Sexual Abuse

January 31, 2011  |

3) Seek Counseling Services: RAINN, the largest sexual abuse support network in the country, operates the National Sexual Abuse Hotline (1.800.656.HOPE), which connects callers to sexual crisis centers in their area. Calls are completely anonymous and the hotline is staffed 24 hours a day. If you are a student, you may also consider contacting counseling services at your school (warning: if you are under 18, local laws may allow or even require staff to contact your parent/guardian in these cases.) Community health centers, hospitals and even some churches also have staff available to assist people in need of post-assault counseling.
