Style To Steal Or Girl, Stop: Alicia Keys Slays, Amber Rose Tans And What Is On Pharrell’s Head?
Aside from picking up awards and watching some dope (and sometimes wack) performances, the Grammys are always good for fashion. It’s the night for stars to dress up like the rock stars they are–or to come out the house looking a mess. You never know what you’ll get. Let’s take a look at some fashions that had us talking and made us want to steal the looks or stop them dead in their tracks.
I guess after all that random backlash Erica Campbell received from some about the tight white dress she wore in a photoshoot for a new single, Campbell decided to stay covered up. She hit the red carpet with her daughter in this pink lace ensemble, and while I’m loving the hair and the makeup, I get “First Lady” vibe from this look. That’s not a bad thing…just not a good thing for the Grammys. Stop.
Bey decided to put some clothes on after that steamy opening performance, and her choice was actually pretty fabulous. Her white Michael Costello gown revealed a bit of skin but also dazzled with its prints. I dig the haircut, but the color makes her hair look a bit dry. Otherwise, she’s looking good. Steal!
The Entertainment Tonight correspondent showed some leg as she hit the red carpet in a white hot above-the-knee dress with pointed-toe black pumps and a bright red lip. She kept the hair down with a slight hint of wave, altogether making for a casual look that really isn’t what I would have expected for the Grammys. Not crazy about it, but I don’t hate it. Reluctant stop.
I know Paula is supposed to be wearing Giorgio Armani, but honestly, I’m getting a Cirque du Soleil vibe from this whole look. Her David Yurman jewels were nice though, and the hair is cute, but the dress (and the fishtail bottom) is just killing me softly. Stop!
Rocking a revealing lace Isabela Toledo gown, Fantasia stepped on the carpet looking quite cute. Not sure what the necklace she has on is about, but with the short haircut and droplet earrings, homegirl looked the best I’ve seen her at a red carpet event. Kudos to whoever is styling her these days. Steal!
This look is everything. Is it Grammy red carpet worthy though? The mix of color and prints (and that blonde coif of hers) is pretty fabulous, I just always find this type of occasion the time to put on a gown. But I do love this though. Steal! But for a more laid back event…
Stunning much? But seriously, the shade of blue used for Keys’ Giorgio Armani gown is quite beautiful. The makeup could have been much brighter, but otherwise, I’m loving the look. Steal!
If you’re wondering why Amber Rose looks a bit more bronzed than usual, blame it on the fact that she made an effort to cover up all her tattoos for the red carpet with makeup. Guess she wanted her Naeem Khan gown to have all the attention, and for good reason…that body is banging in this gold dress! Steal!
We already told you that Ciara looked flawless, but for another look…Ciara rocked a custom made Emilio Pucci gown to show off her belly bump (and those maternity boobs), and while we weren’t crazy for the hair, she looked pretty amazing. Steal!
Well look who stepped out to enjoy the Grammy festivities! After rocking a very extravagant (and panned) black gown to the awards last year, Ashanti kept it short and chic this time around. Once again, it’s not a bad look, but it seems more for clubbing in Miami than red carpet award appearances. She does look good, but I’ll pass on the look…Stop.
Tamar and Vince
You can’t really see it well in this picture (sorry, Getty was playing games), but Tamar was rocking a gorgeous strapless Michael Costello gown as she walked the red carpet with her man Vince. And can we talk about how fabulous the short bob is on her compared to the overpowering bright blond hair we’re so used to seeing? Slay honey!
Some guys came super casual, others came in their most dapper ensembles of the year. Kevin Hart looked great in Lanvin, while Miguel and his liquid leggings and Miss Jessie’s approved hair kind of had us scratching our heads. Also, while I love Kendrick, his Dior ensemble (with the silk camisole) was a no no. And John Legend looked great next to his stunning wife, Chrissy Teigen. But we’re still trying to figure out what the hell was on Pharrell’s head all night and why Cee Lo wearing a slip?
