Kerry Washington likes keeping her personal business under lock and key, and protected from public scrutiny. Hence the reason we didn’t know that she was romantically involved with former NFLer Nnami Asomugha until the two tied knot last summer and the marriage license came out. It’s also the reason why we were unable to say with certainty that the “Scandal” actress was with child until she showed up to the Golden Globes Sunday night sporting an undeniable baby bump.
“Access Hollywood” caught up with the glowing mom-to-be as she strolled the red carpet and while she never gives up much about her personal life, she did allow herself to briefly open up enough to express how excited she is to be carrying her first child.
“I’m very blessed,” Kerry gushed. “I’m truly, truly blessed. Everything is so extraordinary. I have loved every moment of this, I’m just really blessed. That’s the word that keeps coming me because I feel like life is such a wonderfuladventure right now.”
Though she declined to comment on her pregnancy cravings, she did explain how the pregnancy made getting fitted for her Balenciaga gown very interesting.
“[We absolutely had] down-to-the-wire fittings because everything keeps changing. You wake up in the morning and you’re like, ‘When did that happen?’ We’ve been adjusting accordingly so that I wouldn’t be truly uncomfortable.”
“This is custom Balenciaga and so I feel like Alexander Wang, designed this dress the bump more than for me, which I am delighted about. I really wanted to work with Alex. Balenciaga is such a classic epic label and when they offered and sent me the drawing I was like, ‘That’s it,’ and thank God because you’re body changes constantly. The dress had to keep morphing to accommodate.”
Kerry also says that her pregnancy didn’t alter the “Scandal” filming schedule.
“No [they didn’t have to accelerate filming this year], we’re just filming along.”
Could that be a possible hint that Olivia Pope will turn up pregnant next season?
