Luptia Nyong’o Compares “12 Years A Slave” Character To Michael Jackson
We just love us some Lupita. Don’t you? Our favorite girl is on the cover of Dazed And Confused’s February issue and inside she gave the magazine some very interesting commentary on her debut role. When asked about her character Patsey from “12 Years A Slave,” she compared her to musical genius and icon Micheal Jackson, saying:
“There’s something very Michael Jackson-like about Patsey – the childlike quality he always had. She had her childhood stripped away from her suddenly as soon as she became of sexual age.”
Beside her stellar acting skills, Luptia also shared with Dazed and Confused that she is a documentary film maker. Her first film, In My Genes, shed light on the albino community in Kenya who are marginalized for looking white. Kenya, of course, is the country Lupita grew up in. The 30-year-old was born in Mexico City, but left when she was one. At 16, she returned to Mexico to learn Spanish, telling Dazed:
“My conscious life has all been in Kenya and it’s my point of reference. But going back to Mexico was very formative.”
Check out a few of the photos from Lupita’s shoot before. Do you agree Patsey has a Michael Jackson likeness to her?
