The Last Holiday

What would you do if you only had a few weeks to live? While we shouldn’t just blow all of our life’s savings in the event of catastrophe, The Last Holiday definitely has some great takeaways about finances.

Queen Latifah plays Georgia Byrd, a dedicated associate in a department store. With dreams of opening her own culinary business, Byrd discovers she has a brain condition that will take her life within weeks. Quitting her job she leaves for a swanky hotel in the Czech Republic where she wines and dines with senators and congressmen. One of the things that stuck out about The Last Holiday outside of Georgia’s generosity was the vision she had for her life. Even though she wasn’t where she wanted to be, she created a book of “Possibilities” (both financially and personally) on where she saw herself down the road. Her warm spirit is what attracted so many people to her and made networking effortless that would later benefit the restaurant she opens.
