If you follow Rihanna on Instagram, you might’ve noticed the Diamonds singer modeling a lavish kimono and a blinged-out, denim top. Captioned on the underneath, she asks “Guess who’s the new BALMAIN Woman?” That’s right, Riri’s the new face of the French fashion house, Balmain!

“#Caribbean gal run ting!” Rihanna tweeted. The Bajan songstress has had quite the connection with the French luxury label — she’s formed an opportune friendship with Olivier Rousteing, the creative director of Balmain. Rousteing revealed that Rihanna is his own personal fashion icon. In his eyes, there couldn’t be a better fit for Balmain’s upcoming spring/summer campaign:

“In front of the camera, [Rihanna] makes you feel like she is the only girl in the world,” said Rousteing, according to Vogue. “When the woman that inspires you wears your creations, your vision feels complete.”

Working with Rihanna is Rousteing’s “dream come true.” He adds that “Rihanna embodies my vision of Balmain in this new campaign.”

The ad campaigns were shot in New York City with the help of Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. Her stylist for the shoot was Mel Ottenberg — RiRi’s personal stylist. Expect to see the advertisements appear in magazines by January of 2014.

As Rihanna swamps the fashion world, the “Stay” singer ain’t doing so bad in the music department either. Riri expressed her excitement after breaking Billboard’s record for scoring the most hit songs:

‘Wow!! I cant tell yall how I’m shaking! I cant believe this!! You did this!! #13 number 1’s! Where dey do dat at? Hardly!” she proclaimed.

This is the second big fashion campaign spokeswoman announcement recently. We learned last week that Erykah Badu is the face of Givenchy’s spring campaign.
