Despite the way Wendy berates folks, the celebrities still manage to show up for her show. Case in point, Ruben Studdard. Wendy has admittedly talked about the man and his weight to death, all while claiming she loves him. She went so far as to say that she didn’t believe he could lose the weight on his own so he should just go ahead and opt for the weight loss surgery. Well, Ruben showed up on her show, 112 pounds lighter, to explain precisely why he wasn’t going to do that.
I was raised to believe that I can do anything. I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me and I have to stand firm on that belief. I feel like taking the easy route out is not something I should do. I should make sure I take responsibility for my health, and get in the gym and work it out.
Wendy responded that that was a refreshing view because that’s a lot of weight he still has to lose. Slight shade? And then she asked him if he had a goal weight.
I most certainly do. I haven’t been sharing that with everybody. I want to be at my physical best by my next birthday which is September 12, 2014. I’ve never seen that. I played football in high school and college, so I’ve been in shape but I’ve never seen what my body looks like at its best.
And then he shared his nutrition and exercise plan.
The one thing I have to make myself do every day is get my big butt out of the bed and go to the gym. Every day, six days a week. I don’t work out on Sundays.
When I’m home, I have a trainer. When I’m on the road I get up and do an hour and a half of cardio and 30 minutes of free weights.
I listen to music so I practice while I’m running or jogging… and I ran a 5k a couple of weekends ago.
I do not eat bacon. I eat turkey bacon though. We eat uncured turkey bacon that’s made with whole turkey meat. They sell it at Whole Foods. It’s only 30 calories a slice, it’s dope.
Go’n ‘head Ruben. We’re happy to see he’s doing this without surgery. Ruben just gives us so many warm fuzzy feelings.
