Last night, in a 90 minute special, the Kardashians took us behind the scenes of the shoot for their 2013 Christmas card. I’m very proud of the fact that I don’t watch the show; but according to the Daily Mail, the family decided to do something do and different this year. First, they were doing away with the typical, traditional Christmas card and going for something a little more artistic. And for that they didn’t use family friend and photographer Nick Saglimbeni, but David LaChapelle.
LaChapelle came to the table with quite a few new ideas. For one he didn’t want there to be any men or children in the shoot. That worked out well since Rob didn’t want to be in it, Scott didn’t mind, Kanye’s on tour and Lamar is wherever the hell he is. Bruce was the only one who wouldn’t stand for being kicked out. He fought to be included. But after seeing how LaChapelle placed him in the scene, it’s rather evident that his presence wasn’t altogether welcomed. Kourtney also fought to make sure that Penelope and Mason were able to be included in the picture. So you’ll see them in there too. And though Kanye and Lamar aren’t physically in there, if you look closely, you’ll find their likeness. Hint, look close to the ground.
LaChapelle told the family that he wanted to do something unexpected with this shoot. “[It will be] On a deeper level, will say something about the time and place where we live.”
Kris Jenner described it as a post apocalyptic, futuristic world that was very pop culture. If that is so, I surely hope that the Kardashian clan won’t be the last family standing when it’s all said and done.
