The Stars Come Out For The American Music Awards Looking Hot And A Hot Mess
If you’ve been tuning in to the American Music Awards, you’ve already seen a whole lot of shiny, satin-y, skin-tight, velvet-y looks that probably looked either incredible or terrible on the television screen. But we’ve pulled together all the ‘fits from some of our favorite stars who showed up and showed out at the awards tonight Let us know who killed it and who needs to go home early and come back next year with a new stylist.
She might not have stepped on the red carpet with her best accessory–her arm candy and fiancé Future, but Ciara turned heads all by herself in this J. Mendel gown (and she had that engagement ring flashing for the paps too). What are we thinking of the hair though? I’m getting an Anna Wintour feel from it, but otherwise, shawty is a 10!
Why does it look like Miley just rolled out of bed? Maybe she’s trying to tone things down for a change, but is this Versus Versace suit red-carpet worthy? I would love it more if it weren’t for those shoes…they’re more my mother’s style. Just saying…
The Pied Piper stepped on the red carpet with his cigar, tall boots and dress (aka, long a** shirt) looking more like a rapper 20 years his junior and less like a 46-year-old R&B singer. But then again, I will take this over the uber-studded ensemble he rocked to the BET Awards this past summer…
Jordin Sparks looked radiant on the red carpet in her high-neck Jovani Couture dress and strappy Schutz shoes. I’m a little on the fence with this one because something is missing. Maybe it’s some big, messy, glamorous hair? What do you think of Jordin’s look?
Boob alert! Naya Rivera has really been letting it all hang out lately, and she didn’t take the day off for the American Music Award red carpet. She did her best J. Lo pose in a Michael Kors dress with some pretty fly Lorraine Schwartz jewels on her fingers and wrists. The hair was big, and so was all that peeping out through the keyhole opening of her dress…
When you’re not sure whether to wear a short dress or a long one, pull a Jennifer Hudson and do both! JHud wore a tangerine gown by Dior. Her makeup looks good and the hair (which we’ve officially decided is a wig) was flickin’ as well, but this dress? We’re not really feeling it. How about you?
I don’t know what I’m looking at. Is that a Rorschach print? Not exactly. Zoe Saldana stepped out in a Roland Mouret dress for the red carpet. While I’m not particularly crazy about it, kudos to Saldana for always mixing it up so we never know what to expect from her. Better luck next time though.
DAMN, GIRL! MC Lyte stepped out in her tallest stilettos giving the 20-somethings a run for their money. It’s unclear who she’s wearing, but from head-to-toe, hair, makeup, attire and body, she’s looking amazing these days.
That Nicole Richie stays slaying everywhere she goes. The beauty stepped out in a sleek white Emilio Pucci dress and a fringe clutch from her own House of Harlow 1960 line. I’m not crazy for the cut-out trend anymore, but Richie definitely rocks it right.
Love Ariana Grande’s voice, but as for this ensemble? Not so much. While it looked good on stage, on the red carpet the Dolce and Gabbana dress kind of swallowed her up and made her look like a little kid. And before you say “but she is a little kid,” Grande is 20…so now you see what I mean. Pick up that hem and switch up the hair next time, girl!
First of all, can we talk about Getty confusing Tyga for Wiz Khalifa? This guy can’t catch a break. As for his look, I don’t dislike it, and I don’t love it. But I think indifference to a look isn’t necessarily a good thing either…
I don’t care what anybody says, I’m happy to see Rocsi Diaz doing her thing these days as a big correspondent for Entertainment Tonight. Such opportunities have allowed her to be a red carpet staple these days, but is this red carpet look a winner for you? Not sure who’s behind it, but something about it is rubbing me the wrong way. Maybe it’s the different panels, including the odd ones with the shimmer? Maybe the red shoes with the red dress was too much? Was the hair too dull? Whatever the problem is, I’ve seen homegirl look better. What do you think?
Ya’ll know Lady Gaga has no act right whatsoever, so instead of walking the red carpet, she had folks from her team put on a horse costume and let her ride down the carpet like only she can. As for her look, she’s actually wearing a pretty Versace gown since she’s the new face for the fashion house. I can do without the horse and all that mess, but she looks good!
Is it Tetris? Pac Man? Versace? Whatever 2 Chainz is wearing, homeboy knows he was dead wrong for coming out the house in the brightest shirt since folks were wearing Coogi sweaters.
Lil Mama has really been getting out and about on these red carpets lately, but I’m not sure what went wrong tonight. The green bob was cute when it was a bit longer, but cut short with the extra black roots, it kind of looks a little off. And the dress is more superhero than red carpet fab. We still love you Lil Mama, and at least your makeup looks fresh!
Chilli and T-Boz are taking full advantage of all the buzz from their biopic (and they’re performing tonight too!), so they arrived to the awards looking very interesting. T-Boz went all Mad Max on ’em, while Chilli went for the “free before 11” look. Together, they’re doing the absolute most, but we just love TLC so much we’re going to go ahead and act like we never saw these outfits…
She just picked up the first ever Icon Award, but Rihanna is getting more attention for her wrapped hair than her actual award. I mean, homegirl always looks good one way or the other, but I think we all had to chuckle a little bit about this, I-just-rolled-out-the-bed-and-took-my-bonnet-off hair homegirl is wearing. As for the ensemble, Ri Ri is wearing a shimmering bralette and skirt (with lace) by Adam Selman that showed off a fresh tan (and some tan lines). Only Ri can get away with all this…Check out a better full view of the look here.
