Some couples therapists might encourage you to speak calmly and try to control your emotions in an argument—not allowing it to really be an argument but a “discussion.” The truth is, sometimes you need to release some anger! That might be in the form of a few harsh words or the raising of your voice. It will hurt your partner for the day, but holding that in could hurt your relationship for life.
