When President Obama officially took office back in 2009, it seemed that his two daughters, Malia and Sasha, were just babies. Over the years, we’ve been privileged enough to witness those adorable little girls transform into beautiful young women, who are making significant marks on the country simply by being themselves. 15-year-old Malia was recently named as one of TIME’s 16 Most Influential Teens.
The piece not only praises Malia and her younger sister, Sasha, for maintaining the grace and poise of adults, but also, for their ability to lead normal lives despite being thrust into the limelight. The piece also notes that President Obama credits his daughters for impacting his stance on gay marriage. That sounds pretty influential to us!
Joining Malia on the list was also New York Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio’s 16-year-old son, Dante. Apparently Dante is New York City’s “latest fashion icon.” The article notes that Dante’s larger-than-life afro has even snagged the attention of the POTUS!
“Dante has the same hairdo as I had in 1978. Although I have to confess my Afro was never that good. It was a little imbalanced,” President Obama said.
Way to go, Dante and Malia!
