NY Teen Stopped For Shoplifting At Victoria’s Secret; Security Checks Her Bag And Find Dead Fetus
A security guard at Victoria’s Secret expecting to find some stolen panties in the bag of a 17-year-old girl caught stealing at the flagship store in NYC made a gruesome discovery on Thursday afternoon. Aside from stolen goods, there was a dead fetus sitting inside of one of her plastic bags…
According to the New York Daily News, the 17-year-old girl (though her name is out there, we didn’t think we should share since she’s not 18) and a friend were suspected of shoplifting at the Victoria’s Secret store in Herald Square. When the girls were rounded up by security, they couldn’t help but notice that there was a distinct stench coming from the girl’s bags. When they looked in a black bag, the discovery of the fetus, which was wrapped in clothes, was made. The girl, who is already the mother of a two-year-old boy, said that she suffered a miscarriage the day before. While police say that the girl was 6 1/2 months pregnant when she gave birth, another source claims she was nearly full term. She was taken out of the store in a wheelchair and to the hospital for evaluation, and FBI took the remains to try and determine if the child was ever alive.
On Wednesday, the young woman who gave birth posted on Facebook, “These Cramps, SON -_____-” but gave no further indication that anything else was going on or had happened. Police went to her home in Bedford-Stuyvesant to search for any clues/signs or evidence that she gave birth in the home. A 17-year-old neighbor, who says that she didn’t even realize she was pregnant (which is telling) spoke to the Daily News and said she was surprised that she would do such a thing:
“She’s a good girl. I can’t believe she would do that. Who the hell would do that? That’s sickening.”
The two girls were both charged with petit larceny (the theft of a small amount of money or inexpensive items) and criminal possession of stolen property for their theft. It remains to be seen what will happen to them, specifically the young mother, when it comes to the treatment of the child. No matter what though, this is just a sad situation and a story that’s hard to wrap your head around. What do you make of all this?
