After decades of serving the media industry and various communities, Oprah Winfrey is still receiving awards and accolades for everything she’s done and continues to do.
The Hollywood Reporter has selected Oprah as the 2013 recipient of the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award. The award recognizes a woman who is a pioneer and leader in her industry. Well, if nothing else, Oprah is a leader and pioneer in multiple industries.
When speaking with THR,the editorial director Janice Lin said:
“Oprah is an inspiration to us all. She has wielded her tremendous influence to empower women both here in Hollywood and around the world, and motivated countless individuals to contribute to causes that better their communities. She is the embodiment of this award.”
You know, I can’t say I disagree with that. Over the years, most of us have heard about women who have decided to make a change in their lives, their communities, or both due to the classic phrase, “Oprah said…” There are women who’ve never met her who consider Oprah a sort of mentor from afar using her life as a blueprint for what they can achieve on their own.
Sherry Lansing added:
“When I learned that Oprah had agreed to accept the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award, I was both thrilled and humbled. No one exemplifies leadership and professional distinction more than Oprah. Her transformative work as a media entrepreneur and as a philanthropist has set the bar extremely high for generations to come. The Hollywood Reporter could not have chosen to honor a more deserving individual than Oprah.”
Congratulations, once again, to Oprah Winfrey on her latest award! She’ll be presented the award by Maria Shriver on December 11th in Beverly Hills.
