Tomorrow afternoon, BET will air its newest television program, “Mind, Body, Soul,” a talk show hosted by megachurch pastor, Bishop T.D. Jakes. Though we’ve seen a slew of talk shows launched this past television season, none have been hosted by a preacher, nor established with a spiritual focus, which is why we were excited to sit down with Bishop Jakes and talk to him about his latest venture.
In our interview, the pastor, who has been ministering for 37 years, talked to us about his hopes for the program and his enthusiasm about people finally getting to see him as a person, as opposed to a personality. We also asked Bishop Jakes how he feels about the mission of his talk show in comparison to the rise of faith-based reality shows like the upcoming “Pastors of LA” — which he said he’s not down with. And we also asked a few burning questions about the increasing African American Atheist movement and his thoughts on single black women in the church.
Check out all Bishop T.D. Jakes had to say in the video above. Will you be watching “Mind, Body, Soul” on Sundays at 12p on BET?
