It seems this is the year of the scandals. To join the company of  Anthony Weiner and Mister Cee of Hot 97 is  Newark  Mayor  and Democratic Candidate for the U.S. Senate Cory Booker — at least that’s what people are assuming.

Booker allegedly fell to temptation when he started direct messaging a str!pper from a vegan (yes, vegan) strip club in Portland, Oregon. According to the New York Times, not long after, Mayor Booker began to privately message the 26-year- old adult dancer, Lynsie Lee.  Mayor Booker is known for being current with social media, unlike his other politician counterparts. He has 1.4 million followers on Twitter, a fact his spokesperson, Kevin Griffis, is trying to use in his defense. He told the Times:

“The mayor talks with people from all walks of life on Twitter.”

Although there is no problem with Cory Booker being affable with his supporters,  Lynsie Lee appears to have wanted to do more than show her support for the Senate candidate, she wanted to consummate their year-long “friendship.”  As they began their relationship, Lynsie would tweet:

“I want @CoryBooker to plow me through the night . . . ”

“@CoryBooker you’re welcome to come stay in my bedroom if your home was affected by the hurricane . . . ;)”

“@CoryBooker the west coast loves you (by west coast, I mean me) :).”

And then these messages happened:

Despite this scandal, Lynsie Lee hasn’t used her new popularity to further embarrass Mayor Booker but to tell her followers, new and old, to support his campaign, recently  tweeting:

“You have to go donate to @CoryBooker’s campaign.”

Though the public usually responds to sexual political scandals with moral disgust, the climate of this incident has been interesting. KTVU reports media outlets have shrugged this issue off because Mayor Booker is 44 and single. It does appear Cory Booker may be putting gay rumors to rest though. Like they always say no press is bad press.

What do you make of this scandal?
