‘I Can Carry My Own Show, Pretty Much Carried This One:’ Evelyn Lozada Wants A Spin-Off
A few weeks ago former Basketball Wives star Jennifer Williams posted an interesting message to her Twitter account about knowing when to abandon a sinking ship. Many assumed that she was referring to the show, which has been highly criticized by fans this season for its “boring” storyline. Ironically, even the current stars of Basketball Wives seem to be denouncing the show. Earlier this month Tami Roman publicly expressed her displeasure with the show. Now her costar Evelyn Lozada seems to be backing away as well. During an interview with HuffPost Live, Ev made it clear that her 5-season contract is up and she’s not really interested in renewing it.
“I signed on to do five seasons and this is our fifth. I don’t really see me doing a sixth season,” the 37-year-old Brooklyn native revealed.
She unsurprisingly revealed that she feels she’s ready for her own spin-off.
“I know I can carry my own show, pretty much carried this one,” she continue.
“I would do my own show because I know I would have creative control. I’m in a different space. I’m open to doing a spin-off, but just not with a cast of women.”
The reality star credits her more calm and laid back demeanor this season to embarrassment from previous seasons and her life coaches, Tony Gaskins and Iyanla Vanzant.
“I made a promise last season to be a better example.”
“I stay calm because I think about the previous season when I acted an a**, and it just wasn’t a good look for me, so I think about that.”
“We talk about everything, whether it’s dating, whether it’s the show, whether it’s family. It’s just nice to be able to have that outlet and be honest….It helps me. It’s just nice to have that person you can trust and you know it won’t go anywhere.”
Ev also discussed a season from this season when things got heated between she and costar, Tami Roman, but instead of resorting to violence like she’s been known to do in the past, she kept her cool.
“Probably last season I would have gotten up, but it’s just not worth it to me. I made a promise last season to just be a better example. That’s why I chose to be a mature lady and make my life coach very happy and I sat down and if she wanted to act crazy and make herself look crazy; that’s fine.”
