We don’t need Black History Month to come around to celebrate a few good men and women within our community. There are plenty of ordinary people in our very neighborhoods, at our jobs and in high-profile positions who do their best to make changes for the better. We know them as activists, policy makers and even the President of the United States.
In honor of the recent celebration of The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s 43rd Annual Legislative Conference, the UNC School of Government has recognized influential figures who have done remarkable work in our communities. Here are 10 African Americans who made strides in public service.
